About

In the past few years, journalism and news gathering has come to face a growing crisis, with declining revenue and disappearing sources of revenue, with a public cynical, disillusioned and even hating the product of thousands of hard working news people who in, most cases, are doing the best job they can under increasingly difficult circumstances. At the same time, media management is floundering, wasting money on countless consultants and in many cases trying to turn back the clock to the halcyon days when running a media corporation was a "licence to print money."
Those days are gone and so there are many blogs and sites trying to figure what is happening and offering various solutions to the growing crisis.
While this blog will cover and comment occasionally on the current situation, the aim of The Tao of News is to look beyond the immediate and so try and peer in the fog of the future at the long term health of news gathering and journalism.
The writer of this blog is Robin Rowland, author, photographer and journalist.
